Stop by The Conium Review‘s AWP table (#2025) tomorrow for freebies like John Englehardt’s micro-chapbook, or flash fiction postcards of “The Pale Investigator” and “Marty of Karbala.” We’re excited for these physical objects (naturally, you can also buy our latest print edition at AWP), but we wanted to represent authors published on our website too. So how d0 we bring these virtual pieces to our booth? QR codes! You know, those things you can scan with your smartphone.
We have a bunch of cards at our booth with different codes on the back. Every single flash fiction from our website is represented by one of these QR codes! Pick up a card, scan the back, read a story. Or take it with you and scan it later. Pick one from blindly the pile, and it’s like story roulette.

We’ll have flash fiction postcards available for free at this year’s AWP Conference in Minneapolis, MN. The postcards feature Daniel Aristi’s “Mart of Karbala” and Mercedes Lawry’s “The Pale Investigator.” Each limited-run postcard is numbered (50 copies of each variant; 100 copies total). These free postcards will be available at The Conium Review‘s table (number 2025) and at the NewPages booth (number 415). Get yours while supplies last!

We’re pleased to announce that Laura Ellen Joyce will judge The Conium Review‘s 2015 Flash Fiction Contest. The winner receives $300, online publication, publication as a broadside or micro-chap, and a copy of Laura Ellen Joyce’s latest book. The submission period runs from August 15th to October 15th. Full guidelines are already posted, so get those manuscripts ready.
Laura Ellen Joyce is the author of The Luminol Reels (Calamari Archive, 2014) and The Museum of Atheism (Salt Publishing, 2012). From 2012 to 2013, she was project coordinator of the AHRC Global Queer Cinema network between 2012-2013. She currently lectures in film and literature at Edinburgh Napier University.
You can read last year’s winning flash fiction, This is Great but You Don’t Need It on our website, and we’ll be distributing free printed copies at the upcoming AWP Conference in Minneapolis. Additional flash fictions (including some contest finalists) are also available online. It’s recommended that you read some of our previously published flash before submitting to the contest!

Chelsea is a 2013 Jack Straw writer, she was a contributor to our Fall 2012 issue, and she’ll be involved with two panels at AWP in 2014 (including a panel that includes The Conium Review).
