Chelsea Werner-Jatzke and James R. Gapinski share their panel picks

Two of our editors share some panels they’re excited for. Naturally, we’ll be spending a lot of time at The Conium Review table (#2025). But there will be three of us at AWP (Chelsea, James, and Uma), so hopefully we’ll all get to attend our panel/presentation wishlists.

James R. Gapinski to present at UMass “Engaging Practices” Conference

The Conium Review‘s Managing Editor, James R. Gapinski, will present at the upcoming Engaging Practices: A University of Massachusetts Boston Conference on the Teaching of Composition.

The presentation, titled “New Media and the Role of Video Games in Composition Classrooms,” is scheduled for Saturday, March 28th at 1:45pm at UMass’s Boston campus.

James teaches composition and writing at Bunker Hill Community College, and his teaching methods incorporate a number of new technologies. Presentation highlights include discussions of video games as literature, ludo narrative, interactive fiction, and new literacies in college-level composition programs.

Manuel Gonzales to teach at the University of Kentucky MFA Program

This year’s Innovative Short Fiction Contest judge, Manuel Gonzales, will teach at the newly established University of Kentucky MFA Program.  Other MFA Program faculty at the University of Kentucky include DaMaris Hill, Julia Johnson, Gurney Norman, Erik Reece, Frank X. Walker, Andrew Ewell, and Hannah Pittard.

Manuel Gonzales is the author of The Miniature Wife and Other Stories, and he recently received an American Academy of Arts and Letters award for his collection.
